The power of the chicken balls is real.

It's been one of those weeks when I spend a lot of time thinking about the past, in a good way. As we were leaving church this morning (yup, Mom, I went to church!), I thought about the X-Man, at four years old. Watching him run, I made some goofy maternal comment, along the lines of,

"You are such a fast runner! Wow!"

Four year olds are such suckers. They believe everything you say.

"YEAH!" he beamed, making those googly eyes he makes when he's excited, "THAT'S BECAUSE OF MY CHICKEN BALLS!"

Then he showed me his chicken balls. He had about twenty, ten or so in each pocket. These balls, found on the playground at his school, were highly prized for their magical powers. Far be it from me to argue with a bunch of kindergartners. The balls did seem to have a magical ability to survive laundering. None of them hatched into chickens.

I did something very brave today. I Googled "fuzzy balls falling from trees." I now know that chicken balls are actually seed pods from the Sycamore Tree. I don't think the X-Man has any recollection of chicken balls and their magical powers so I won't bother him with this information, but I thought someone might want to know. If that was you, you're welcome.

Namasté, y'all!

I'm interested to know what else comes up on a search for, ""fuzzy balls falling from trees." But that's just me.
